Ingredients
½ c. butter at room temp. 1 ½ c. sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla | 1 ¼ c. flour ¼ tsp. salt 2 tbsp. cocoa powder 2 tbsp. red food coloring |
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 8×8 pan with nonstick foil or greased regular foil.
- In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder, food coloring, and 1 tsp. of vanilla to form a paste. Set aside.
- With a mixer, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then add the second tsp. of vanilla. Then beat in cocoa paste. Add flour and salt and mix just until combined.
- Spread in pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool before frosting.
