Skillet Chocolate Pie

Smooth, rich, melt in your mouth. A Southern Classic not to be over-looked. A chocolate lover’s dream.

Serves
6-8

Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cocoa
2 heaping tbsp. plain flour
1 c. milk
2 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 stick butter
1 baked pie shell

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Mix together sugar, cocoa, and flour in skillet.
  3. Add in milk and egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick.
  4. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Combine.
  5. Pour into baked pie shell.
  6. Beat 2 egg whites in a bowl until stiff. Add 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp vanilla.
  7. Pour over chocolate in pie.
  8. Bake pie in oven for 25 minutes or until meringue is light brown.
